PLAYMOBIL

The official U.S. trailer is out for Playmobil: The Movie.

Based on the iconic toys, Playmobil: The Movie is directed by Disney Animation vet Lino DiSalvo from a screenplay by Blaise Hemingway, Greg Erb, and Jason Oremland. The voice talent includes Daniel Radcliffe, Meghan Trainor, Kenan Thompson, Adam Lambert, Jim Gaffigan, Anya Taylor Joy, and Gabriel Bateman.

The new trailer introduces secret agent Rex Dasher (Radcliffe) as he partners with smooth-talking food truck driver Del (Gaffigan) and Marla (Taylor-Joy), a smart, savvy civilian with her own secret agenda, to rescue citizens from different lands as they vanish into thin air. The previously released international trailer showed that a young boy Charlie (Bateman), Marla’s brother, was one of the Playmobil figures to unexpectedly disappear. It’s up to his older sister to bring him home as the trio goes on a journey across new worlds to gather clues for their rescue mission.

The film features a score by Heitor Pereira (Despicable Me trilogy, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, The Smurfs movies, Minions) and four original songs, co-written by producer, musician, and songwriter Anne Preven.

STXfilms partnered with ON Animation Studios to release the film stateside. Playmobil: The Movie will be out in theaters in the U.S. on Aug. 30.
