Last month, WildBrain announced that it was spotlighting Strawberry Shortcake at Licensing Expo, including collaborations with Hot Topic, Loungefly, Dolls Kill, and more. Now, The Loyal Subjects Toy is joining the lineup.
The Loyal Subjects’ Strawberry Shortcake collection features dolls, playsets, collectibles, and more. The Strawberry Shortcake Fashion doll is 5.5 inches tall and comes with surprise accessories, scented hair, and 29 points of articulation. The doll will later be joined by Blueberry Muffin, Lemon Meringue, Raspberry Tart, Orange Blossom, and more. Kids can also get the beloved characters as 3-inch collectibles and 1.5-inch collectible surprise toys.
Some other highlights to the collection include a Strawberry Shortcake ragdoll, which comes in two editions (one to be exclusively available at a specialty retailer to be announced); the Berry Bakeshoppe playset, which is compatible with the fashion dolls; and the Carry and Go Strawberry playset, which takes nostalgia on the go.
“I’ve been seeing Strawberry Shortcake T-shirts everywhere for the last year,” says Jonathan Cathey, CEO and Founder of The Loyal Subjects. “[When] I was in Marigny, New Orleans, the 20-something-year-old barista was wearing a Strawberry Shortcake crop top. I saw a picture of a friend on Instagram in Strawberry Shortcake-themed workout clothes at the gym, a 20-something-year-old server at an L.A. hotspot started talking about her love for Strawberry Shortcake (the dolls), my 6-year-old niece is asking if I make Strawberry Shortcake dolls — everywhere I go, people are either representing this brand or asking about it! The timing is perfect, not just because nostalgia is so hot, the brand is super-relevant in today’s world where folks are wanting something wholesome, inclusive, [and] ‘feel-good’ with an undeniable message of kindness.”
The Strawberry Shortcake collection ranges from $3.99-29.99 and will launch at select retailers and Amazon during the holiday season with a broader rollout next year.
