VTech‘s first new toys for 2021 are paving new roads for green electronics.
The company revealed a new lineup of products that continues its push toward replacing fossil-based plastics with sustainable alternatives by 2030.
New for 2021 are three new eco-friendly vehicles in the Go! Go! Smart Wheels line made from plant-based plastic, and the Sort & Recycle Ride-on Truck made from reclaimed plastic. LeapFrog is also getting into the sustainable mix with the Choppin’ Fun Learning Pot with vegetables and accessories made from plant-based plastic.
Additionally, VTech is sourcing materials from responsibly managed forests certified by Forest Stewardship Council for two new wooden toys: the Touch & Learn Nature ABC Board and Interactive Wooden Animal Puzzle.
“VTech’s sustainability vision is to create sustainable value for the lives of people and protect the planet for the future generations,” says Dr. Allan Wong, chairman and group CEO of VTech Holdings Ltd. “We are committed to using sustainable materials in our products and packaging and recycling them in a responsible way, using eco-friendly transportation modes in our supply chain management, increasing the use of renewable energy and reducing the consumption of natural resources in our production process.”
VTech recent sustainability efforts include a recycling partnership with TerraCycle and a rolling introduction of sustainable packaging. By 2025, the company expects to have replaced all fossil-based blister packaging with plant-based alternatives.
