WildBrain has acquired Personality AI, a company focused on developing kid-safe conversational AI experiences for entertainment characters.

The acquisition adds Personality AI’s proprietary generative AI technology to WildBrain’s platform, spanning global licensing, franchise management, content production, and network scale. The company’s character experiences are designed to be built once and deployed across products, platforms, locations, and other experiences, creating additional opportunities for IP owners to engage with fans beyond traditional licensing and content.

Personality AI was selected by Amazon in 2025 to develop a generative AI platform for Amazon Kids+. One example of its work is Hey Peppa Pig, an interactive voice experience developed with Hasbro that lets kids engage with Peppa Pig through games and activities inspired by the official series. The experience launched in December 2025 and is available on Fire Kids tablets through Amazon Kids+.

Personality AI is part of the FTC-approved PRIVO COPPA Safe Harbor Program, which independently assesses compliance with the Federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. Its technology incorporates moderated interactions, child development experts, layered quality control, and privacy-by-design principles. The company says it does not store or monetize children’s personal data and does not store user voice recordings or other personally identifiable information on devices or remotely.

The acquisition also expands WildBrain’s consumer engagement capabilities through WildBrain CPLG, its global licensing and consumer products arm. Personality AI’s interactive character experiences can be integrated across toys, apps, kiosks, consumer products, and other platforms, providing an additional category for WildBrain to offer IP owners and license partners.

“Personality AI enables more continuous interaction between fans and brands, strengthening our ability to deliver end-to-end franchise solutions to partners,” says Josh Scherba, President and CEO of WildBrain. “This highly complementary acquisition positions us and Personality AI as a more integrated partner to IP owners globally through our in-house licensing agency, WildBrain CPLG, while helping support the continued growth of both our owned and partner brands.”

Personality AI joins WildBrain with a growing pipeline of prospective licensing engagements. Its character AIs are designed to be continually enhanced, expanded, and renewed, allowing brands to develop ongoing interactive experiences across consumer products, digital platforms, physical locations, and emerging applications.

As part of the acquisition, Personality AI founder and CEO John Goscha joins WildBrain’s executive leadership team as executive vice president, Personality AI, reporting to Scherba. Personality AI’s AI app and product creation team will also join WildBrain under Goscha.

“I look forward to working with Josh and the WildBrain management team to bring our capabilities to more brands, platforms, and audiences around the world while maintaining the high standards of safety, trust, and innovation that have defined Personality AI,” Goscha shares.

WildBrain acquired 100% of the outstanding shares of Personality AI for approximately $11 million in cash at closing, subject to customary adjustments and holdbacks, along with 1 million WildBrain shares. The vendors will receive an additional $2 million in consideration on the first anniversary of closing, payable in up to 1 million WildBrain shares, with any balance paid in cash.

The agreement also includes up to $56 million in additional performance-based cash consideration tied to Personality AI achieving certain revenue targets in 2027, 2028, and 2029. WildBrain shares issued to the vendors will be subject to a six-month lock-up period.

WildBrain expects the Personality AI business to be EBITDA accretive in fiscal 2027.
