Following the successful debut of a toy line based on the animated series Power Players, ZAG and Playmates Toys are taking their partnership to the next level.
The independent animation studio entered into a long-term global alliance with the toymaker to manufacture and distribute new toy lines for ZAG’s entire portfolio of brands, including Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir.
“What we love most about Playmates Toys, aside from their fantastic team, is their ability to not only capture the magic of our characters but also bring them to life,” says Jeremy Zag, CEO at ZAG. “Their ability to tackle any and all production challenges inspires us to further push the envelope and continue to innovate. We couldn’t ask for a better partner.”
The Paris-set superhero saga, Miraculous, has developed a growing international fan base hungry for the adventures of two seemingly typical teens with secret identities, Marinette and Adrien — who magically transform into superheroes Ladybug and Cat Noir. The series airs daily in more than 120 countries worldwide.
Power Players currently airs Cartoon Network in the U.S. The series follows a 9-year-old boy who transforms into a 6-inch superhero to battle toys created by his uncle — a former toy inventor that owns a toy repair shop.
ZAG’s next project is Ghostforce, a CGI-animated series about a group of junior high school friends who form “a secret superhero team dedicated to protecting New York City from spectral villains, large and small.”
“We continuously strive to create unique product lines for kids that are entertaining, innovative and high-quality, and ZAG is the perfect partner as we look to the future, sharing the same values as us,” says Karl Aaronian, senior vice president of marketing, Playmates Toys. “This is truly a new way of doing things. Working hand in hand with Jeremy and his team from the IP inception right through to having toys on shelves allows for a truly unique creative approach that will lead to incredibly innovative entertainment content and toy product.”
