The Bananagrams Challenge, the first official U.S. Bananagrams school tournament, is open for registration to elementary schools throughout Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. The free-to-enter challenge is intended to help boost vocabulary and spelling skills in classrooms and after-school programs.
Children in grades 4, 5, and 6 are invited to play a series of Bananagrams games with classmates. Through a process of elimination, each school finds its champion, who then competes in a series of online word-based games—using grade-appropriate spelling lists—for one of 12 places at the Grand Final in Rhode Island on April 9.
All finalists will receive a Bananagrams Goodie Bag, and the child crowned Top Banana wins a trophy and $1,000 for his or her school. Each school to register, in turn, receives a free Bananagrams Challenge Welcome Pack that provides everything teachers need to run their schools’ challenge, including two Bananagrams games and a copy of Workman Publishing’s Bananagrams for Kids.
More information can be found at the official Bananagrams Challenge site.
