Build-A-Bear is continuing its foray into the world of entertainment.

Build-A-Bear Entertainment is teaming up with Foundation Media Partners and Montreal-based Laughing Dragon Studios for KABU, a new animated series. The first-look episode will debut at the Kidscreen Summit, taking place from Feb. 4-7.

KABU, which means “cub” in Japanese, is a 10-episode series developed for kids ages 7 and up. Though it’s made with younger kids in mind, the show’s creators hope to see it appeal to everyone with multi-level comedy and stylized animation. The show will tackle everything from solving problems in unique ways to lessons learned from friendship.

The series will feature Build-A-Bear animals such as mascot Bearemy (voiced by Thomas Sanders) and Pawlette the Bunny (voiced by Brec Bassinger). Kids will meet new characters as well, including Bearnice (voiced by Diamond White), Bearnard (voiced by Sean Giambrone), and Poodella (voiced by Margie Mays).

“As an organization grounded in over 25 years of creating memorable moments with ‘retail-tainment,’ entertainment is a natural extension for the brand,” says Sharon Price John, President and CEO of Build-A-Bear. “The provision of new and fun ways to engage with fans and guests on multiple levels across the organization’s eco-system is expected to be a value-enhancing proposition.”

Other Build-A-Bear Entertainment offerings include the live-action film Honey Girls, the animated movie Glisten and the Merry Mission, and the documentary Unstuffed: A Build-A-Bear Story.
