Entertainment One’s (eOne) Ricky Zoom continues to grow its audience around the world.
For kids and families in China, the preschool series has been a hit since its debut last June, and beginning March 23, audiences will have a new place to watch: CCTV-14. The network will air 10 episodes per day beginning at 11:20 a.m. from March 23-27. In China, the series racked up more than 100 million views in its first 12 days on YouKu last year.
“We are so proud of Ricky Zoom and its success to date,” says eOne’s Olivier Dumont, president, Family & Brands. “It is premium original content produced by the very best talent and our strong roster of international broadcasters has super-charged the series to a high level of awareness around the world.”
From the producers of PJ Masks, Ricky Zoom is a CGI action comedy adventure series that follows the adventures of Ricky, a little red motorbike with a zest for speed. The show is about friendship, family, and learning to stand on your own two wheels. A born leader, Ricky is joined by an enthusiastic group of young Bike Buddies — Scootio, Loop, and DJ — who live in Wheelford.
The quick success of the series on a global level led eOne to put a second season into production with new episodes set to air beginning in November.
“We are very excited for the potential to explore even more ground in the second season,” Dumont adds. “There are so many more stories to tell that will deepen the connection between the characters and our audience, and we look forward to bringing them all-new adventures.”
A new line of toys from TOMY recently made its debut at Toy Fair New York. eOne says that further expansion to its licensing program can be expected beginning this fall.
