License Global’s Top Global Licensors Report has returned for 2023.
The Top Global Licensors Report is a ranking of global retail sales for licensed consumer products and experiences, created annually by License Global. Every year, License Global calls for intellectual property owners to provide revenue figures of licensed goods and their formulas for the prior year. The License Global editorial team then validates each brand and curates submitted figures to build each edition of the report.
In total, the report shows retail sales of licensed consumer products and experiences in 2022 at $278 billion. The top 20 of the 82 brands in the report generated a combined $230 billion. The top 10 brands saw an average growth rate of 19% year-over-year, with individual businesses seeing year-over-year growth as high as 61%.
The Walt Disney Company took home the number one slot ($61.7 billion) with Dotdash Meredith ($31.5 billion) falling in second. Multiple key players in the toy industry were among the top 10, including The Pokémon International Company ($11.6 billion) at five, Hasbro ($11.5 billion) at six, and Mattel ($8 billion) at eight.
