The Red Rocker and the Blue Bomber are headed for the big screen.

Mattel Films is collaborating with Universal Pictures and Vin Diesel’s One Race Films on a live-action film based on the classic tabletop game, Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots.

Diesel (The Fast Saga, Guardians of the Galaxy) plans to star in the film and will produce alongside his sister, Samantha Vincent (The Fast Saga) while Kevin McKeon will lead the product for Mattel. A screenplay from Ryan Engle (Rampage, The Commuter) “follows a father and son who form an unlikely bond with an advanced war machine.”

“To take the classic Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em game, with Mattel as my partner, and align it with the kind of world-building, franchise-making success we have had with Universal is truly exciting,” says Diesel.
