Thanks to Mattel Press’s upcoming book lineup, parents and caregivers will have some more options to keep the summer reading slump at bay next year.
The publishing imprint, in partnership with Simon & Schuster, shared three upcoming book series for the young readers category: a graphic novel based on the Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots property, a spellbinding middle-grade fiction about five young witches, and an illustrated book about the mischievous and talkative Chatty Cathy.
Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots Series: We’re Gonna Need a Bigger Bot is an action-packed adventure written by author Dustin Brady that follows the hijinks of two independent creators of Blue Bomber and Red Rocker. Each inventor is trying to take control of Downs Town and uses outrageous methods and inventions to quash the competition, leading to some absurdly silly battles. The graphic novel is intended for kids aged five and up, and the next title in the new series is set to launch in Spring 2028.
Moonspell School for Witches, by author Jen Calonita, follows five witches participating in the Witch Trials to find out whether or not they attend the legendary magical school. Each girl brings her own strengths to the trials, but the crew learns that the strongest magic may be found by working as a team. The novel follows themes of embracing one’s inner magic, finding belonging in friendships, and discovering that every young witch has her own unique spark. The series is aimed at older tweens, and the next book in the series is set to release in Fall 2028.
Rebecca Elliot’s Chatty Cathy and Planet Silent takes kids on an adventure with Cathy Chatterson as she embarks on a journey with her two friends, Benjamin Pinkles and Mr. Bulky. The planet they find has no sound and a spooky Silence Beast, and Cathy discovers that what usually gets her in trouble may prove to be her biggest strength. The next books in the series are set to launch in October 2027 and Spring 2028.
Each book is available to preorder now, and readers can learn more about the three new series by visiting simonandschuster.net.
