McFarlane Toys is getting back in the game.
Known for producing realistic action figures that span superhero franchises, video game series, and pop culture, the company revealed at Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC) that it will reintroduce sports players into its collections, relaunching the Sports Picks brand.
Todd McFarlane, the Canadian comic book artist and founder of McFarlane Toys, previewed new figures from the National Hockey League (NHL) during SDCC, featuring players such as Connor McDavid and Sidney Crosby. In a YouTube video announcement, McFarlane also informed fans that new products from the National Football League (NFL) are on the horizon.
“Look for some of the newest players, some of the newest superstars,” McFarlane says in the video. “We’re going to give you more details, just wanted to let you know, NFL [is] back, baby.”
The company has also introduced a sports newsletter for information on upcoming releases ahead of the relaunch of sports figures. McFarlane Toys had previously been in the sports action figure market for 14 years, offering licensed figures of sports stars from the NBA, MLB, and more, before a hiatus of several years.
