Following their U.S. debut at Toy Fair New York last February, a pair of UK hits have officially arrived in the States.

Scuttlebug and Scramblebug preschool ride-on toys — known affectionately as “the Bugs” — have been an evergreen part of the Mookie Toys lineup in the UK since 2014. With the global spread of the COVID-19 pandemic fueling sales of outdoor toys, the Bugs experienced a sales boom overseas that is expected to propel their U.S. holiday launch.

“Scuttleugs and Scramblebugs hit new heights during the summer and were recognized on The NPD Group as topping the UK charts in the ride-on category and becoming the third best-selling item in all outdoor toys for the month of June,” says Claire Olewnik, business development manager, Mookie Toys. “We’re extremely excited that our beloved Bugs brand has arrived in the U.S. and look forward to families across the country having fun and sharing pictures on our social media channels of their children riding their favorite characters.”

Mookie’s U.S. Bug lineup includes four characters — Beetle, Bumblebee, Hornet, Butterfly — each available online through Amazon, Target, and Walmart. The ride-ons can also be found at select specialty retailers and independent toy stores.
