The NPD Group acquired Brazil-based Sim2M point-of-sale Toys panel, a South American leader in market research for the toy industry. The acquisition from NPD’s Brazilian subsidiary, NPD Brasil Market Research Services Ltda., expands NPD’s global footprint. NPD has also opened a new facility in Brazil, located at LWM Corporate Center in Sao Paulo, marking the company’s 25th office worldwide.
NPD’s primary focus in the coming year will be to build upon the toys business and its existing sports industry consumer panel, which has been active in Brazil since 2010. In the near future, the company is planning to launch tracking services in other industries in Brazil, including video games, sporting goods, and automotive aftermarket.
During a transition period while NPD Brasil consolidates operations and builds upon the toys business, Sim2M will continue to perform data processing on NPD’s behalf, while maintaining the same level of client service and confidentiality.
