Rio Video Game to Release April 12

THQ, Inc. and Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products will release a fast-paced, party-style video game inspired by Fox’s upcoming animated 3-D movie Rio on April 12. The movie will debut in theaters on April 15.

The video game will be available on the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation3 computer entertainment system, the Wii system, and the Nintendo DS family of hand-held systems.

On Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii systems, up to four players can compete with one another in 40 mini-games as one of the six playable characters from the film: Blu, Jewel, Pedro, Nico, Raphael, and Eva. Five modes are possible as players journey through Rio to win first place. The video game will also feature “jump in, jump out” gameplay, allowing players to enter and exit a game as they please.

The Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi versions will be rhythm-based. As the main character from the film, Blu, players use their stylus to discover Latin and hip hop beats as they navigate through 20 levels and seven colorful locations. Rio, the video game, also features four mini-games in which players party with the other characters from the film.
