Tony Hawk Skateboards

Sakar International is making a bigger push into outdoor play, building on a business that already moves more than 700,000 scooters a year.

The company’s assortment now stretches well beyond scooters and skateboards. Ride-ons, helmets, protective gear, arcade and tabletop games, and sporting goods for baseball, soccer, football, tennis, and pickleball are all part of the mix.

Licensing gives Sakar plenty to work with. Its outdoor portfolio includes Bluey, Barbie, Hot Wheels, PAW Patrol, Peppa Pig, Minecraft, Sonic the Hedgehog, Monster Jam, Jurassic World, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, American Girl, GMC, Tonka, Spalding, Reebok, and Prince. The company is also expanding its Power Wheels business, adding more battery-powered ride-ons across age groups and price points.

That breadth lets Sakar build programs for mass, club, specialty, value, and off-price retailers alike.

“For nearly 50 years, we’ve built our business around understanding brands, developing great products and knowing how to bring those products to retail,” says Ralph Sasson, COO, Sakar International. “Our Outdoor business is a great example of how those strengths come together. We’ve established a strong foundation across Wheeled Goods and Sporting Goods, and we’re continuing to build on that through product innovation, iconic licensing partnerships and expanded retail opportunities.”

“At the heart of it, these are categories that create experiences for kids and families,” Sasson adds. “Whether it’s a child’s first scooter, a battery-powered ride-on, a soccer ball or a t-ball bat, these products are part of moments that create lasting memories. Bringing trusted brands and beloved characters into those experiences makes the connection even more meaningful. That’s what makes this business so exciting and why we see so much opportunity ahead.”

Sakar was founded in 1977 and will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year. The company says product development, adjacent categories, and deeper brand and retail partnerships will remain a focus as its outdoor business grows.
