The worlds of CookieRun and The Amazing Digital Circus collide in a new crossover, while Nex Playground brings basketball into the living room with NBA Versus. Meanwhile, Marvel’s Wolverine claws its way to the top of September’s video game sales charts, and Nintendo rolls out a packed lineup of new releases, including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and Final Fantasy Resonance.

‘The Amazing Digital Circus’ Enters the CookieRun Universe in New Crossover

Devsisters has teamed up with Glitch Productions to bring The Amazing Digital Circus to CookieRun: Kingdom and CookieRun: Crumble. The crossover launches Oct. 21 in CookieRun: Kingdom and Oct. 22 in CookieRun: Crumble, introducing playable characters, original stories, and limited-time events inspired by the animated series.

In CookieRun: Kingdom, a coding error transports the circus tent and its inhabitants into the Cookie Kingdom, where glitches begin spreading throughout the world. Players can join the Cookies and circus characters on a mission to uncover the source of the disruptions. The update introduces Pomni Cookie and Jax Cookie as playable characters, along with five Guest Cookies based on Ragatha, Gangle, Zooble, Kinger, and Caine. Additional content includes an Abstracted Entity Boss Raid, themed costumes, Kingdom decorations, and a Gummigoo-inspired icing set. The event runs through Nov. 18.

Meanwhile, CookieRun: Crumble brings the circus cast to the Choco-Drop Kingdom, where Caine leads a mission to repair a dimensional glitch. All seven main characters join the game as playable Special-grade Cookies, with four arriving Oct. 22 and the remaining three joining Nov. 5. Players can also collect Bubble as a Pet and explore the Digital Circus Tent event dungeon, which features battles against circus characters and familiar CookieRun monsters. A more challenging Night Circus Tent difficulty launches Nov. 5. The collaboration runs through Nov. 19.

The crossover marks the first time The Amazing Digital Circus characters have appeared in an original in-game story. It follows previous CookieRun: Kingdom collaborations with Wicked and KPop Demon Hunters, continuing Devsisters‘ expansion of the franchise through entertainment partnerships.

‘Marvel’s Wolverine’ Leads September Video Game Sales as PlayStation 5 Gains Ground

Marvel’s Wolverine topped the U.S. video game sales charts in September, helping Sony post strong hardware gains despite a slight decline in overall industry spending, according to Circana’s latest report.

Total U.S. consumer spending on video game content, hardware, and accessories fell 1% year over year to $4.8 billion in September. Year-to-date spending reached $41 billion, down 3% compared to the same period in 2025. Hardware and accessories posted double-digit growth for the month, while content spending declined.

Marvel’s Wolverine debuted as September’s best-selling game, generating the highest launch-month dollar sales for a Sony-published title since Helldivers II in February 2024. The game also entered the year-to-date rankings at No. 11. Eight of September’s 10 best-selling games were new releases, with NBA 2K27, EA Sports FC 27, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, and The Blood of Dawnwalker rounding out the month’s top five.

NBA 2K27 also climbed to the top of the year-to-date sales chart, surpassing Resident Evil: Requiem to become 2026’s best-selling game so far.

Video game hardware spending increased 12% year over year to $362 million, driven by a 43% jump in PlayStation 5 dollar sales. Sony’s console led the market in both unit and dollar sales, with unit sales rising 22%. Meanwhile, Nintendo Switch 2 hardware dollar sales declined 12%, and Xbox Series spending fell 2%. Overall hardware unit sales slipped 3%.

Content spending declined 2% to $4.2 billion, largely due to a 14% decrease in mobile game spending. Console content spending increased 8%, while PC spending rose 27%. Non-mobile subscription spending fell 5%, marking its first year-over-year monthly decline since February 2024.

Accessories spending grew 10% to $218 million, with gamepad sales increasing 9%. The PlayStation 5 Limited Edition DualSense Wireless Controller Wolverine Battle Yellow was the month’s best-selling accessory in both units and dollars.

On mobile, Monopoly Go! led September consumer spending, followed by Roblox, which jumped eight spots from August to take second place. Other top-performing titles included Royal Match, Candy Crush Saga, and Gossip Harbor.
