The makers of Moon Ball are “over the moon” due to a big sales spike.
The Waboba Moon Ball is a reimagined bouncy ball that, as the name suggests, reaches heights that seemingly defy gravity. Since its soft launch in 2012, the Moon Ball has amassed global success, just recently reaching 10 million sold.
After averaging 900,000 balls sold annually for its first eight years, sales soared to more than 1,500,000 balls last year. Jordan Sullivan, Waboba’s director of fun, attributes Moon Ball’s exponential growth to social media.
“While it’s always been a popular activity toy, its popularity has zoomed with the onset of social media,” Sullivan says. “And there have been more than one million views on TikTok, YouTube and more, all showing the wild tricks we didn’t even think were possible. ”
Building on the social media success, Waboba has introduced a new, light-up version of the ball called Moonshine. The ball stores an LED light, which is activated by bouncing the ball and stays lit for seven seconds. Additional information can be found at waboba.com.
