WildBrain is shining a light on Strawberry Shortcake’s furry friends with its Purrfect Pets campaign. The year-long celebration honors the animal companions living in the Strawberry Shortcake universe.
“The pets of Strawberry Shortcake have always been beloved characters in their own right, making Purrfect Pets a natural and heartwarming theme for the franchise,” explains Ben Peace, executive vice president of franchise at WildBrain.
The campaign brings fans, and their pets, new content, activities, and pet-inspired products focused on the bond between pets and their owners. The initiative expands Strawberry Shortcake’s pet accessories and clothing offerings, with a new collection planned for Spring 2027.
As part of the campaign, WildBrain has launched a dedicated Instagram account for Strawberry Shortcake’s feline companion, Custard. The account is a destination for pet-themed content and fan engagement throughout the campaign.
“The campaign allows us to tell new stories, showcase fan-favorite characters like Custard and Hopsalot, and create meaningful opportunities for partnerships across pet-themed consumer products, retail, content, and live experiences,” Peace adds.
Purrfect Pets kicked off last weekend at Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC) with the Purrfect Pets Pawp Up, a pet adoption event held at Malibu Farm San Diego in partnership with The Animal Pad, a local dog rescue organization. The event took place along the Seaport Village boardwalk and encouraged attendees to celebrate their pets while supporting efforts to help rescue dogs find homes.
“We couldn’t imagine a better way to kick things off than partnering with The Animal Pad for the Pawp Up, celebrating the joy pets bring to our lives while helping deserving dogs find their furever homes,” Peace says.
The event featured an exclusive Yappy Hour for pet creators, followed by Strawberry Shortcake character meet-and-greets, photo opportunities, giveaways, themed activities, and treats for pets and their owners. Partners included G Mason Group, Velondi’s Gupperz, Jay Franco, and Treasures Gifted, while Magnolia Bakery provided Pupcakes for pets and cookies for guests.
The campaign continues throughout the year with new activities dedicated to Strawberry Shortcake’s animal friends, including fan-favorite characters Custard and Hopsalot, ahead of next spring’s expansion into pet accessories and apparel.
