New Star Wars: The Force Awakens toys will be unveiled through a live unboxing event broadcast on YouTube. The event will see highlights from a range of merchandise, and is scheduled to unfold over a span of 18 hours in 15 cities across 12 countries worldwide.
The Star Wars YouTube channel will host the live stream, which kicks off with the first unboxing in Sydney, Australia, at 7:45 a.m. local time on September 3 (5:45 p.m. EDT on September 2), with the grand finale at Lucasfilm in San Francisco at 8 a.m. PDT (11 a.m. EDT) on September 3. At each of the 15 locations, a new Star Wars: The Force Awakens-inspired product will be revealed. The full schedule can be found at www.starwars.com.
The global unboxing event will incorporate toy-unboxer personalities as well as channels featuring families, lifehack specialists, gamers, and Star Wars fans worldwide. Star Wars commentators Anthony Carboni and Andi Gutierrez will host the event from the YouTube Space in Los Angeles.
Select Disney Store locations around the world will take part, and fans are encouraged to document the event on social media using the hashtag #ForceFriday. At midnight local time, the event will end with select retailers opening their doors for customers to purchase Star Wars: The Force Awakens toys, collectibles, and more.
