Toy Industry Association (TIA) Elects New Leadership at Annual General Meeting

TIAAt its annual general meeting held on Monday, the Toy Industry Association (TIA) announced the election of three new members to the TIA Board of Directors for two-year terms of office expiring in February of 2017. Nominated to serve their first terms on the TIA Board were Kerry Cunnion, senior vice president of sales at Tomy International; Howard Kahn, chairman of Madame Alexander and CEO of Kahn Lucas; and Bruce Raiffe, president of Gund. Saban Brands Partners with Fisher-Price, Bendon for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Products

Oct7.SabanSaban Brands and Fisher-Price have teamed up for a new line of Imaginext products, inspired by the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The line will feature a range of figures, villains, weapons, Zords, and a giant Megazord. The Megazord will feature multiple levels of play, eight points of articulation, a disc launcher, ranger elevator, command center, and villain jail. All of the products will be available exclusively at Toys “R” Us in May, followed by a global rollout to additional retailer later in the year.

In addition, Saban Brands has partnered with Bendon Inc. for a Power Rangers Dino Charge product line of premium coloring activity books, stickers, puzzles, and more. The products will launch this month across multiple retailers including Hobby Lobby, Rite Aid, and Dollar Tree.

Toys “R” Us Inc. to Host 10th Great Trade-In Event

toysrusToys “R” Us will hold its 10th Great Trade-In event, beginning January 23 and continuing through February 21, at Babies “R” Us and Toys “R” Us stores across the U.S. Over the duration of the event, stores will accept any used cribs, car seats, bassinets, strollers, high chairs, infant swings, bouncers, travel systems, walkers, entertainers, and play yards in exchange for 25 percent savings on the purchase of a new baby item, in any of these product categories.

There is no limit to the number of items a customer can trade in. In addition, consumers who do not have items to trade in will receive 15 percent off a new gear or furniture item with an in-store only coupon available on babiesrus.com/greattradein.

Since August 2009, products traded in as part of the Great Trade-In event were missing parts or damaged, while others were decades old or showed obvious signs of wear and tear.
