Marvel is rolling out a new merchandising program inspired by Black Panther in time for his first appearance as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a new comic book written from Ta-Nehisi Coates, and 50th anniversary. The campaign will touch on all major categories including publishing, apparel, toys, collectibles, home goods, and more.
The licensing program features a wide range of products inspired by both the new Marvel comic book debuting April 6th and Black Panther’s first film appearance in Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War film in May. Toys “R” Us and Save the Children have partnered for the Play With Purpose campaign. The goal of the campaign is to provide some of the 15.5 million youth living in impoverished regions of the country with opportunities and resources to integrate play into their everyday lives.
Play With Purpose is designed to support Save the Children’s early childhood programs like Early Steps to School Success, Literacy/Healthy Choices, and the SummerBoost Initiative. The “Great Trade-In” event, hosted by Toys “R” Us, will be held in Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us stores nationwide, from Feb. 1st through the 29th. The event will open January 29th for Rewards “R” Us loyalty members who show their loyalty card during checkout.
Consumers are encouraged to rid their homes of unsafe, old, and secondhand baby gear and furniture in exchange for a 25 percent discount on the purchase of a new item that meets the latest safety standards. Stores will be accepting used cribs, car seats, strollers, high chairs, infant swings, and other items of the sort.
Toys “R” Us has raised more than $5.8 million and collected over 200,000 toys to benefit the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation during its annual nationwide fundraising campaign. Play Fair will welcome attendees for the first time at New York City’s Javits Center North on February 13 and 14 next year. The inaugural event, hosted by the Toy Industry Association and LeftField Media, will offer families and toy collectors the opportunity to interact with presenting sponsors Lego Systems Inc. and Nickelodeon, as well as toy and family brands, including Mattel, Hasbro, Warner Bros. Pictures, Crayola, and Toys “R” Us.
Play Fair will offer attendees exclusive fan experiences, such as seeing the new Batmobile from Warner Bros. Pictures’ upcoming film, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
