Zootopia Sets Walt Disney Animation Studios Record with $75 Million Debut

unnamedZootopia debuted this weekend with $75 million, marking the biggest three-day debut of all time for Walt Disney Animation Studios. Internationally, the film opened in mid-February, earning nearly $100 million over its first three weeks and posting an additional  $64.7 million this weekend for a combined global total of $235.2 million.

Domestically, Zootopia’s $75 million surpasses the $67.4 million three-day weekend total posted by Disney Frozen during its Thanksgiving debut, the previous high for a Walt Disney Animation Studios film. In addition, Zootopia now holds one of the top three domestic debuts of all time for an original film (not based on another property). The film currently has a 99 percent Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and U.S. audiences gave the film an A CinemaScore.

TOMY is the master toy licensee for the feature film. The line includes figures, vehicles, play sets, role-play, and plush toys that capture character personalities with lights, sounds, and songs to inspire fans to recreate the fun of Zootopia.
