Bakugan, the battle-centric anime and intellectual property, is getting a series of refreshes, thanks to an upcoming television series and new toy line from Spin Master.
“The Bakugan franchise will elevate to epic new heights as we further enhance the experience across entertainment and power up the gameplay through toys,” says Spin Master Executive Vice President and Global Chief Marketing Officer Jeremy Tucker. “We’ll deliver these new and unique experiences, driving collectability, and introducing new ways for Bakugan fans of all ages to battle and connect with the brand.”
The Bakugan series debuts on Netflix Sept. 1 and on Disney XD Sept. 23. Featuring an updated animation style and new plotlines, the anime will be available on Roblox first. Users will be able to stream the first two episodes of Bakugan from Friday, Aug. 4 through Sunday, Aug. 13 — four weeks ahead of its Netflix premiere date.
The new toy line will include Bakugan Special Attack ($9.99), which are customizable and stackable Bakugan toys, and a Battle Arena playset ($39.99). The toy line also flirts with tech-forward features, like built-in camera stands to film play on a mobile device, and Power Gear tokens that can be found in-pack and are redeemable for digital Bakugan-themed accessories or power-ups within Roblox. Spin Master has also hidden Power Gear codes within content on the Bakugan YouTube channel.
The new Bakugan toy line will be available at all major retailers Aug. 1.
