Discovery Game Studios to Develop Games Based on TV Library

Discovery Inc. is taking a big leap into gaming with the launch of its own studio under its consumer products division.

Discovery Gaming Studios will serve as a hub for the creation, licensing, and distribution of games for video game consoles, PC, and mobile gaming platforms. The games will be inspired by series in Discovery’s television library, including programming from Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, ID, HGTV, and TLC. Discovery Game Studios is working directly with game developing partners, such as Ubisoft, Jam City, Playway Games, Code Horizon Studios, and Gamaga.

“As Discovery continues to evolve and lead in the digital media world, we are always working to find new and exciting ways to interact with our fans and give them more content from their favorite shows,” says Matt Bonaccorso, director of marketing and digital products at Discovery Inc. “Whether it’s exploring the world’s harshest environments or most stunning animal life, or investigating true crimes or perfect dress options, Discovery Game Studios is focused on creating innovative and interactive experiences that not only build upon the success of our series, but also surprise and delight our fans.”
