Over the past few weeks, areas of Germany have been hit with devastating flooding that has wiped out towns and villages and disrupted countless lives.

Due to this, Spielwarenmesse eG — organizers of the massive Spielwarenmesse International Toy Fair in Nuremberg, Germany — have launched an internal fundraising campaign to provide aid to victims. For each Euro contributed by a staff member, Spielwarenmesse added another five.

“The support and sympathy shown by our staff and their willingness to donate has been incredible,” Spielwarenmesse Spokesperson of the Executive Board Christian Ulrich. “Our entire team is deeply shocked by the extent of this disaster, and we wanted to make at least a small and unbureaucratic contribution to show our support in their hour of need.”

A total of 9,000 euros was collected and donated to Aktion Deutschland Hilft, an alliance of aid organizations, including Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB), CARE Deutschland and Malteser Hilfsdienst.

Aktion Deutschland Hilft is supporting rescue, recovery, and clean-up efforts in the areas hit by the flooding.

The 72nd Spielwarenmesse will take place Feb. 2-6, 2022.
