Nearly two years after joining Mattel to lead content distribution and business development, Fred Soulie has been promoted to senior vice president and general manager, Mattel Television.

In his new role, Soulie will oversee the development, production, and distribution of Mattel’s full slate of TV and streaming content. He will report to Mattel President and COO Richard Dickson.

“A robust slate of television and streaming episodic content is a key part of our transformation into an IP-driven, high-performing toy company,” says Dickson. “We have a strong roster of television content already in production — from Thomas & Friends and Barbie to Masters of the Universe — with many more projects in development. Fred is a highly experienced leader who will accelerate our efforts to further build our television business.”

A former executive at DIC Entertainment/Cookie Jar Entertainment and Intermix Media/MySpace, Soulie joined Mattel from Saban Brands, where he led global distribution for projects including the Power Rangers franchise.

At Mattel Television, Soulie’s direct reports include Adam Bonnett, executive producer, Mattel Television; Andrea Carpenter, senior director, entertainment and content distribution (Americas); Grace Chan, senior director, content distribution and business development (Asia Pacific); and Alex Godfrey, senior director, content distribution (EMEA).
