Brooklyn-based FCTRY is expanding its line of Real Life Action Figures with the addition of Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

FCTRY turned to Kickstarter to raise funds for the project, for which backers have pledged more than $88,000 (as of this writing) to support versus a $30,000 goal. The family-owned company plans to donate $1 from every $20 figure sold to Save the Children to support relief efforts for Ukrainian refugees.

“The idea behind this project is to find ways to engage kids about current events in a way that’s accessible to them,” says FCTRY co-founder Jason Feinberg. “We believe there’s too much of an emphasis on superheroes in popular culture and not enough on the kind of real-life heroes kids can actually model themselves on. By turning real-life heroes like Zelensky into action figures, we hope to bridge that gap.”

Sculpted by Seattle-based artist Mike Leavitt, FCTRY’s growing lineup of Real Life Action Figures includes an array of characters, mostly inspired by personalities from the U.S. political scene. Over the past few years, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have received the action figure treatment alongside Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, U.S Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and former Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump.

The Kickstarter campaign for the President Volodymyr Zelenskyy Real Life Action Figure closes on August 12, 2022.
