Mattel‘s Fisher-Price is getting into the festive fall season with its latest Little People Collector set.
The Little People Collector Día de Muertos figure set honors the customs, symbols, and rituals of the time-honored holiday of remembrance that takes place on Nov. 1.
The trio of 2.5-inch Little People figures comes in a colorful window display box. Each figure contains authentic design details, including calaveras (skulls) and cempasúchiles (marigolds).
Mattel describes the characters in the set as follows:
- A woman dressed in a traditional ruffled dress and cempasúchils, also known as “flowers of the dead,” whose fragrance is said to guide souls to their altar and their waiting families.
- A man with a sombrero and guitar, as musicians are known to play guitars throughout graveyards to serenade the dead.
- A joyous calacas (skeleton), a notable symbol for Día de Muertos with a custom-designed skull.
While Fisher-Price Little People are designed to be played with by kids as young as 1, a growing number of adult collectors has embraced the line in recent years. Other Little People Collector sets include characters from Masters of the Universe and The Office, along with celebrities and musicians, including The Rolling Stones and Run-DMC.
