Kartoon Studios has partnered with Penguin Young Readers and Kohl’s to launch book and plush products inspired by the Llama Llama preschool franchise. The retail promotional program will be part of Kohl’s Cares, where 100% of Kohl’s net profit will benefit nonprofit organizations that improve the well-being of different communities.

The products are based on characters from the children’s book series by Anna Dewdney and Netflix Original preschool series. Kartoon Studios has also added Spirit and YOTTOY as plush licensing partners.

The first promotion debuted on Feb. 1 and included a book from Penguin Young Readers, Llama Llama Easter Egg, and a plush toy from Spirit. The set retails for $9. The second release is slated for April. It will include Penguin Young Readers’ book Llama Llama Red Pajama and a plush YOTTOY at $5 each.

“We began our collaboration with Kohl’s and Penguin in 2020 with our introduction of Llama Llama into the Kohl’s Cares initiative, and we extended the partnership in 2022 as we continue to steadily grow the brand,” says Lloyd Mintz, Senior Vice President, Global Consumer Products at Kartoon Studios. “Launching two more promotions in 2024 offers us a tremendous opportunity to continue to honor Anna Dewdney with delivering the heartwarming stories she created, along with new quality products from our recently added licensing partners Spirit and YOTTOYS.”

“[Kohl’s Cares] promotions do such good charitable work while giving young readers more ways to connect with their favorite character, Llama Llama,” says Margaret Anastas, Vice President & Publisher at Flamingo Books, an imprint of Penguin Random House.

Spirit and YOTTOY are new licensees as Kartoon Studios continues to build the Llama Llama brand.
