Scholastic Ent., Brownstone Productions, Marc Platt Productions, and Universal Pictures have partnered for a magical feature film.
The Magic School Bus has entertained kids for 26 years with its science-focused antics and loveable teacher Ms. Frizzle. For the first time ever, it’s coming to the silver screen in a live-action feature-length film.
Elizabeth Banks (Pitch Perfect, Hunger Games) will portray Ms. Frizzle and produce alongside Max Handelman, Iole Lucchese, Caitlin Friedman, Marc Platt, and Adam Siegel. Allison Small is the executive producer for Brownstone Productions.
This is the latest ride for the transformative yellow bus. It began as a series of books for kids and turned into an Emmy-award winning animated series in the ’90s. More recently, in 2017 The Magic School Bus Rides Again premiered on Netflix and featured Kate McKinnon as Ms. Frizzle’s Sister (Saturday Night Live) with a theme song from Lin Manuel-Miranda (Hamilton). It helped make science more exciting for kids and evokes nostalgia for many adults.
