Ahead of Earth Day 2022, Melissa & Doug is taking yet another step toward its sustainability goals as part of Project Restore.
The company says that it will plant 10 million trees by 2030 in an effort to make the world a “greener, healthier” place for kids. The initiative is being supported by One Tree Planted, a global reforestation program.
“As a purpose-driven toy brand, our goal is to spark imagination and wonder in all children. Today’s children are growing up in a world where they are aware of issues, such as climate change,” says Bridgette Miller, chief marketing and sustainability officer of Melissa & Doug. “It’s important that we give back to our planet on behalf of future generations. We want to remind children that the world is their playground with every new tree we help grow.”
Project Restore is a three-pillar effort built around Thriving Forests, Timeless Toys, and an Inclusive World.
The company is making toys using FSC-certified wood and entered into a partnership with How2Recycle and the Sustainable Packaging Coalition to streamline the sustainability of its packaging.
