Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana, in partnership with WeKids and Toon Boom Animation, completed the first round of talent discovery through their joint initiative, China Tales Incubator. Beijing-based Bingo Animation Studio’s Dreamweavers was selected to be put into development by the partnering companies.
Through workshops in Hangzhou, Suzhou, Shanghai, Beijing, and Shenzhen, China Tales Incubator welcomed China-based animators, writers, illustrators, storytellers, and artists to submit kids’ animation concepts. The ultimate goal was to select a new concept to be presented to the international market for distribution, licensing, and merchandising.
Dreamweavers was selected from a large field of entrants, and follows a budding creative named Eve who is invited into a fantastical textile world, where her costume-making dreams take a magical twist. Eve and her new friends apply their passion for fashion to creating enchanted clothing, hoping to one day earn the ultimate title of the Dreamweaver.
Bingo Animation Studio creates and designs projects for clients such as Disney, Alibaba Pictures, and CCTV.
