Total industry spending for video game hardware, software, and accessories from Oct. 29 through Nov. 25, 2017 increased 30 percent to $2.6 billion compared to last year, according to analysis from The NPD Group.

Video games hardware sales compared to the same period last year increased 52 percent from $754 million last year to $1.1 billion this year; video games software increased 19 percent from $978 million last year to $1.1 billion this year; and video games accessories increased 11 percent from $311 million last year to $344 million this year.

“Hardware spending in November 2017 grew 52 percent when compared to year ago, to $1.1B. Spending growth was driven by Nintendo Switch, Microsoft’s Xbox One and Sony’s PlayStation 4,” according to Mat Piscatella, NPD’s video game analyst.

The top 10 games for the period based on dollar sales in August across all platforms are Call of Duty: WWII, Star Wars: Battlefront II 2017, Assassin’s Creed: Origins, NBA 2k18, Madden NFL 18, Super Mario Odyssey, FIFA 18, Need for Speed: Payback, Destiny 2, Pokemon: Ultra Sun, and Pokemon: Ultra Moon.
