The busy world of Richard Scarry is expanding.

Random House Children’s Books tapped several new licensing partners to modernize children’s author Richard Scarry’s expansive franchise. The publishing house is also gearing up for the 50th anniversary of one of Scarry’s most popular books, Cars and Trucks and Things That Go.

“Richard Scarry is a globally loved and evergreen literary brand with incredible nostalgic value,” says Rachel Bader, director of licensing for Random House Children’s Books. “Enjoyed by three generations of readers, parents all over the world love how Richard Scarry’s books take place in a community setting where young children can learn how the world works while they discover new words and explore independent thinking.”

The new licensees include: 

  • Bioworld: Apparel and accessories. Available in U.S. stores this fall. 
  • Clarkson Potter: Stationery and baby books. Available in U.S. stores this fall. 
  • Small Planet (Japan): Apparel, accessories, and home goods. 
  • Uniqlo: Baby onesies as a part of their picture book collection program. Currently available in Asia. Available in U.S. stores this fall.
  • Super7: Supersize vinyl figures. Available March 2023.
  • Hatley: Raincoats, umbrellas, and sleepwear. Available this fall.

Along with the new licensed products, Random House is releasing two new Scarry books and republishing a series of Scarry’s mystery books next year.
