Spielwarenmesse 2024 wrapped up just last week, with 57,000 visitors descending on Nuremberg to see what the world of toys had to offer.

One of the largest international industry trade shows for toys and games has seen another year of events, exhibitors, and attendees. This year’s Spielwarenmesse reported 2,354 exhibitors from 68 countries, an increase of 10% compared to last year. And, 97% of exhibitors considered the participation in Spielwarenmesse to be important or very important, an increase from 2023’s 95%.

This year’s Spielwarenmesse highlighted the kidult market with its larger theme. The fair hosted a special area, “Life’s a Playground — Toys for Kidsters, Kidults & Co.,” as well as expert talks and other events to examine the growing industry interest in adult customers.

Spielwarenmesse additionally hosted a large collection of events across different themes. From the Disney Group’s breakfast to the variety of LicenseTalks, there were a number of opportunities to network, collaborate, and gain unique insight into industry trends. This year’s Game Inventors Convention welcomed those in the game industry to network and see the newest games designers have to offer, while Thursday evening’s RedNight saw more than 100 exhibitors invite trade fair visitors to their stands.

“At the Spielwarenmesse, all the stakeholders are there,” says Martina Vierkötter of Haba, winner of the ToyAward in the Baby & Infant category. “It’s a great place to have conversations; it put a noticeable wind into our sails and generated various spontaneous meetings.”

“With its diversity, its wide-ranging supporting program, and its unique service, Spielwarenmesse showed again this year that it continues to be the international meeting point for the sector. The ‘Spirit of Play’ was in evidence everywhere,” says Florian Sieber, CEO of the Simba Dickie Group. Next year’s Spielwarenmesse will take place Jan. 28-Feb. 1, with 84% of exhibitors reporting plans to attend Spielwarenmesse again.
