We’ve reached the halfway point of 2026, and the U.S. toy industry is having a pretty good year. June kept the momentum going.

Our 2026 Specialty Toys & Gifts Issue debuted at Astra Marketplace & Academy, and judging from the digital reads, new product discovery is happening every day as the retailers look to stock their shelves with fresh offerings in the back half of the year.

A close look at the month’s most-read headlines reveals the continuation of several notable trends, including toys and activities for adult consumers, the importance of location-based experiences (LBEs), and Mattel’s dominance in the vehicles space. And speaking of Mattel, its collaboration with Miley Cyrus rocketed into the No. 7 slot for the month in less than 12 hours. Perhaps it’s the forthcoming launch of filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s similarly themed The Odyssey, but newcomer Oz Creations’ Olympia Doll collection also cracked the Top 10 for the second month. Check out the big toy stories below.
