Following a massively successful Kickstarter campaign last year, the Storypod screen-free audio player is officially for sale in the U.S.

Storypod is a 360-degree speaker that kids can use to listen to classic and original stories, songs, and rhymes that are activated using 3.5-inch yarn figures called Crafties.

“The dominance of screens in our lives is a particular challenge for children, with the pandemic exacerbating this exponentially,” says Daniel Buelhoff, co-founder of Storypod. “As two dad entrepreneurs, we wanted to develop an educational product that addresses this concern head-on. Storypod is so much more than a passive storytelling box. Through our lovable yarn-characters, called Crafties, the read-along audiobooks, and our interactive trivia cards, children can for the first time truly interact with audio stories, while learning and building on critical comprehension skills without a screen. It’s revolutionizing educational screen-free time for parents and kids. ”

At launch, more than 20 Crafties are available with more planned for release later this year.

The Storypod Starter Kit includes an omnidirectional speaker, removable mesh sleeve, the original Craftie Fox yarn character with original stories in English and Spanish, a read-along audio-booklet The Adventures of Craftie Fox, an iCraftie Owl — that parents can use to record up to 100 minutes of audio — and a lanyard for portable play.

Buelhoff says that Storypod will reveal its first licensing partnerships later this year.
