The Nacelle Co. is building a franchise.

Following the debut of its first wave of Robo Force action figures last month at independent specialty toy stores across the U.S., the company greenlit a Robo Force TV series. First reported by Deadline, Robo Force received a straight-to-series order. Tom Stern (Spongebob Squarepants) and Gavin Hignight (Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy) are on board to write, produce, and serve as showrunners.

In 2021, the diversified media company behind The Toys That Made Us (Netflix), A Toy Store Near You (Amazon Prime Video), and Icons Unearthed (Vice TV) acquired the rights to Robo Force, a former Ideal Toys brand that initially launched in the 1980s.

The Nacelle Co. founder Brian Volk-Weiss will helm the pilot episode of Robo Force to kick off a planned first season of six, 22-minute episodes.

To relaunch the Robo Force brand, a pair of 7.5-inch action figures (Maxx 89 and Wrecker) — complete with ’80s-inspired suction cups on their feet — are available now.
