Monopoly has long been known for its brand collabs and its anime category is gaining two new properties: Dragon Ball Z and One Piece.
In time for Christmas, Toys “R” Us Asia is set to launch special-edition Monopoly sets featuring two of the most popular anime properties, which will only be available at Toys “R” Us stores and online in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Singapore.
What sets these games apart from those of Sailor Moon, My Hero Academia, and Pokémon is that, for the first time ever, these Monopoly sets will be available in English and traditional Chinese. While maintaining the classic Monopoly play experience, players will be able to choose to engage with the property in the language of their choice.
“In addition to Dragon Ball Z and One Piece Monopoly editions now available, we will also be launching, at a later date, another exclusive Monopoly edition in Asia, featuring another popular animation cartoon,” says Jo Hall, chief commercial officer of Toys “R” Us Asia. “We’re sure these playsets will offer endless fun and bonding moments for families across our markets.”
Dragon Ball Z Monopoly will feature the Z Fighters and turns dice rolling and real estate into an epic battle. Players can recruit warriors like Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan to help in the adventure as they encounter the Red Ribbon Army and the Capsule Corp.
In One Piece’s set, players are welcomed to Dressrosa with their favorite bespoke character playing tokens. Advance to Bellamy, Violet, or even Luffy all while owing rent and/or reaping rewards.
