The 2020 winner of Mattel’s third-annual Hot Wheels Legends Tour is a 1970 Pontiac Trans Am custom car, built by Riley Stair of Sacramento. It will be inducted into the Hot Wheels Garage of Legends and will join the Hot Wheels collection as a 1:64 scale die-cast toy.

The Hot Wheels Legends Tour made 14 virtual stops throughout Europe, Latin America, Asia, and North America where contestants competed for a chance to see their custom car immortalized in the Hot Wheels mainline.

The winner was determined at the final stop, which was live-streamed from Jay Leno’s Garage and co-hosted by Jay Leno and motorsports ambassador Jarod DeAnda. Fans tuned in to Jay Leno’s Garage’s YouTube channel for the Hot Wheels Legends Tour finale to see the winner determined by a team of diverse judges. Celebrity appearances included Snoop Dogg, Gabriel Iglesias, Brionna Lynch, and more.

Ted Wu, vice president of global design for vehicles at Mattel, ultimately declared Stair as the winner. Wu spoke about the advantages of going virtual for the event this year in response to the pandemic. “The Hot Wheels Legends Tour demonstrated tremendous growth, engaging over 10 million fans from around the world,” he said.

Stair’s Pontiac will become the third fan car to become a Hot Wheels die-cast and will be available to purchase in 2021. More information on the Hot Wheels Legends Tour can be found here.
