Hasbro kicked off Power Rangers Day, Aug. 28, by revealing plans for the 30th season of its Power Rangers franchise through its entertainment studio, eOne. The news comes as the toy and entertainment giant wraps up Power Week, a celebration of the franchise packed with new toy reveals.
The 30th season, Power Rangers: Cosmic Fury, begins filming this Fall in New Zealand and will debut in debut sometime next year.
Hasbro notes that the 30th season is historic in that, for the first time since the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers premiered in 1993, the current cast will return for a third season.
Showrunner Simon Bennett and writers Becca Barnes and Alywn Dale will craft the new season for returning cast members including Russell Curry, Hunter Deno, Jordon Fite, Kai Moya, Chance Perez, and Tessa Rao — all of whom appear in the current iteration, Power Rangers: Dino Fury.
“Since the first episode of Power Rangers Dino Fury, this team of Power Rangers has broken the mold of the franchise in many ways, so it is exciting and humbling to be able to continue the story of these characters in Power Rangers Cosmic Fury,” Bennett says. “Power Rangers Dino Fury Season 2 ends with some big revelations, and we’re so grateful to Hasbro and eOne that we get to continue to tell these stories in a brand new way.”
In the 30th season, the current team of Power Rangers, fueled by the prehistoric power of the dinosaurs, will blast off to new adventures in space. Power Rangers: Dino Fury has been a hit on Netflix where the first half is currently streaming. The second half debuts on Sept. 29.
A full range of related Power Rangers toys is at retail now with a host of new products set to hit retail in the year ahead. Select new toys that were revealed during Power Week are now up for pre-order via Hasbro Pulse and additional retail partners, including Entertainment Earth.
