Al Kahn, Toper Taylor Launch Kidtagious Entertainment

A pair of licensing industry vets — Al Kahn and Toper Taylor — have partnered to launch Kidtagious Entertainment.

The kid-focused licensing and entertainment company has plans to “discover, curate, imagine, and deploy kids and family-friendly intellectual properties from around the world.”

Kahn is best known for discovering iconic properties, such as Cabbage Patch Kids, Pokémon, and Yu-Gi-Oh! as founder and CEO of 4Kids Entertainment Inc. Taylor was President of Nelvana Entertainment, and co-founder and CEO of Cookie Jar Group — two companies that revolutionized family entertainment, branded consumer products, licensing, and educational publishing.

“Having built some of the world’s most-recognized kid brands, we know what it takes to identify the right properties that have the potential to become household names and industry disruptors,” says Kahn, CEO of Kidtagious Entertainment. “Our goal at Kidtagious is to determine brands ahead of the curve and identify trends that today’s digital age kids will enjoy and can relate to.”

“Kidtagious is the next-generation, lean children’s entertainment company focused on effectively and seamlessly merging the myriad of new and emerging technologies with proven intellectual properties and established consumer brands,” Taylor explains. “Through our initial and continuing efforts, Kidtagious is essentially bringing Silicon Valley to Hollywood in a manner that’s meaningful and impactful with today’s consumer.”

The team at Kidtagious plans to leverage new technologies in blockchain and digital collectability, in addition to authentication and royalty accuracy reporting platforms, wearables, and more.

Properties including Kung Fu Pork Choppers, Lee Cross, Mofy, and others that were developed as part of Kahn’s previous company, CraneKahn with Jillian Crane, will be folded into Kidtagious. The company considers the properties to be “epidemic IP.”

In addition to licensing, Kahn, a member of the Licensing International (LIMA) Hall of Fame, served as a producer on numerous film an television projects, including G.I. Joe: Sigma 6, Sonic X, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Pokémon, and others.
