After 50 years of bringing toys and games to kids in California, Geppetto’s Toys is celebrating the only way it knows how: with some good, old-fashioned family fun.
On Sept. 19, the largest independent toy retailer in the U.S. will mark its 50th milestone with an in-store celebration at all nine of its San Diego County locations. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., families can stop by for giveaways, snacks, entertainment, activities, crafts, discounts, and other surprises — including an exclusive NeeDoh.

Commissioned by Geppetto’s, the 50th Anniversary NeeDoh is the only custom version of the viral squishy toy that Schylling will produce this year, and only a few thousand will be available in-store for the occasion. The NeeDohs will go on sale at 9 a.m. Sept. 19, with a limit of one per customer while supplies last. Geppetto’s will donate all proceeds from the NeeDoh to Rady Children’s Hospital, with a guaranteed minimum donation of $50,000.
“To make it 50 years in any industry is an accomplishment, let alone in one that has morphed so much over the decades,” said Geppetto’s owner Brian Miller. “From the changing face of traditional retail to the boom in online shopping, the impact of the pandemic, global tariffs, and more, we are thrilled to have been a consistent neighborhood spot to find quality, hand-picked playthings from around the world.”
The 50th Anniversary Celebration will take place at all nine Geppetto’s Toys locations across San Diego County on Sept. 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. To learn more, visit geppettostoys.com.
