Kids in France can réjouir now that CoComelon is making its way to televisions in their country.
British kids’ media company Moonbug Entertainment made an agreement with Gulli, the first French kids free-to-air TV channel, to air episodes of the company’s show CoComelon across the channel starting in early November. This marks Moonbug’s first free TV channel deal in France.
As part of the agreement, Gulli and Super RTL — a German free-to-air television network who joined forces with Gulli in 2021 to support and develop licensing programs on each side of Europe’s Rhine River — will become the licensing agent for CoComelon in France. This enhances the relationship between the Super RTL and Moonbug, which was established last year when Moonbug announced that Super RTL would be the show’s licensing agent in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
“CoComelon is a huge opportunity and we will be promoting it on our fully integrated Gulli ecosystem, including TV, digital, the Summer Kids Tour, and many others,” says Jean-René Aucouturier, Gulli’s executive vice president of global distribution and business development.
Licensing responsibilities will include identifying new licensees, as well as developing the existing portfolio across France and managing retail partnerships. The companies’ rights will also include merchandising and publishing for CoComelon.
