PlayMonster is adding to its lineup of family-friendly games with the acquisition of Hot Taco’s widely popular Taco vs. Burrito collection. The collection includes the core game and two expansion packs.

Created in 2018 by 7-year-old Alex Butler, the game took over the industry with its blend of humor, strategy, and a hint of absurdity. It has over 20,000 5-star reviews and has rapidly grown from a Kickstarter launch to the No. 16 best-selling game on Amazon in 2024.

In Taco vs Burrito, 2-4 players ages 7 and up compete to create the craziest and most valuable (in points) meal. Each player starts with five cards and continues drawing from the Draw Pile until it’s empty. The player with the most points and the craziest meal combination wins.

“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Taco vs Burrito into the PlayMonster family,” says Jonathan Berkowitz, CEO of PlayMonster. “This game embodies everything we love — it’s original, it’s playful, and most importantly, it brings people together. As we continue to expand our lineup of hit party and family games, Taco vs Burrito is a perfect addition that will delight our customers worldwide.”

Consumers are seeking unique and imaginative games, a trend PlayMonster has recognized with the announcement of this acquisition. Taco vs. Burrito joins PlayMonster’s collection of card games, like Five Crowns, Never Have I Ever Party Game, and more.

“From the beginning, we’ve been passionate about this game and the way it brings people joy, laughter, and unforgettable memories,” says Leslie Pierson, President of Hot Taco Inc. “Joining forces with PlayMonster — a company that shares our values and creative spirit — is an incredible milestone for us. We can’t wait to see where this next chapter takes Taco vs Burrito with their expertise and passion behind it.”

PlayMonster is dedicated to bringing Taco vs Burrito to even more households while fostering a fun, competitive spirit under its growing family of games.
