Spielwarenmesse begins this week — digitally!

Beginning on Feb. 2nd, the international event will take place virtually for five days. Although the in-person part of the event was canceled due to COVID, ticket holders can look forward to a wide range of online events.

Spielwarenmesse Digital will launch with an informative opening event that will be live streamed on Wednesday, Feb. 2nd at 9 a.m. Keynote speaker Philippe Glorieux, head of marketing at IMPS The Smurfs, will share some insights regarding his sustainability project in collaboration with the U.N. At this same event, the winners of the ToyAward will be announced in their respective categories, including the inaugural recipient of the ‘Sustainability’ award.

“In Spielwarenmesse Digital, we have created a multifunctional platform that puts people at its center and where industry professionals can target their networking to their specific interests,” says Christian Ulrich, spokesperson of the executive board at Spielwarenmesse eG.

Spielwarenmesse recently released an international consumer study on the importance of sustainability in toys. A short and compact version of the consumer research is available online at spielwarenmesse.de/en/toysgogreen and the full study will be presented by Pablo Busó, user research area manager at AIJU on Feb. 2nd at Spielwarenmesse Digital.

The topic of sustainability has a throughline in the rest of the convention, surfacing at The Toys Go Green event. Visitors can look forward to presentations on the subject of sustainability and examples of products in each of the individual categories. There are various specialty rooms for visitors to enjoy, such as the StartUp Area, where new talent and business contacts can connect. The Toy Business Forum, held all week, will tackle current topics in the trade presented by experts in the industry.

All presentations will be streamed on digital.spielwarenmesse.de and then available on-demand in both German and English.
