Miniso is continuing its global expansion. Most recently, the company opened a Barbie IP collection store in Malaysia.
The new Miniso store, inspired by Mattel’s iconic Barbie IP, opened on March 30 and is located at the Berjaya Times Square Mall in Kuala Lumpur. Miniso reports this location broke its Malaysia sales records for two consecutive days following its opening.
The new location offers shoppers Miniso’s Barbie products available for the first time in Malaysia, such as the Barbie Ballet Eau de Parfum collection. The store also offers products featuring Disney, Care Bears, Pokémon, and more, across Miniso’s wide range of categories.
The store’s design is directly inspired by Miniso’s Barbie collection, with a pink color palette. It includes features inspired by Barbie, such as pink palm trees and mirrors. Opening day included a Barbie pop-up with a pink photo booth, giveaways, and influencer visits.
Miniso has further plans for IP-specific locations, with a Sanrio store set to open at the American Dream mall in New Jersey next month. The company has seen a steady continuation of store openings across the globe, with more than 1,300 stores in Asia (excluding China). The company aims to see a net increase of 550-650 overseas stores in 2024.
