The late Stan Lee is headed back to the Marvel universe.

Stan Lee Universe, a venture from Genius Brands International and POW! Entertainment, inked a 20-year deal with The Walt Disney Co. through which the likeness of the comic industry legend will be used in feature films, TV productions, theme park attractions, and other projects.

“We are proud to be the stewards of the incredibly valuable rights to Stan Lee’s name, likeness, merchandise, and intellectual property (IP) brand,” says Genius Brands Chairman and CEO Andy Heyward. “And, there is no better place than Marvel and Disney where Stan should be for his movies and theme park experiences.”

According to Genius Brands, the deal allows Marvel Studios to use Lee’s name, voice, likeness, and signature to be used in its projects — a deal that includes the use of images, existing footage, and existing audio recordings of Lee. Disney Parks, Experiences and Products gains similar rights under the deal to use Lee’s name, voice, likeness, and signature in theme and water parks, cruise lines, and on park-exclusive merchandise.

Genius Brands International will be present at Licensing Expo from May 24-26 in Las Vegas to meet with potential licensing partners.
