Mr. Potato Head enters the pop culture sphere!

Super Impulse, known for its World’s Smallest brand — miniature versions of classic games such as UNO and Operation, is now releasing Poptaters, originally previewed in the September 2022 issue of The Toy Book. The time-honored Hasbro Potato Heads will be getting a pop culture mash-up spotlighting everything from celebrities to fictional characters.

The first release features musician Gene Simmons of KISS, Optimus Prime from Transformers, The Joy of Painting host Bob Ross, and Garbage Pail Kid Adam Bomb. Each Potato Head character has the usual interchangeable parts, so characters can be mixed together.

“Potato Head is an instantly recognizable icon, a toy that most of us had as kids. Poptaters is the perfect iconic update for the 2020’s – fun and funny,” says Super Impulse Co-Founder Alan Dorfman. “We are co-branding with very recognizable, fan-favorite personalities to create a line of hilarious figures. And the more you collect, the more mix-and-match options there are among the characters.”

The new collection of figures launches today and is available on Amazon. Prices range from $14.99-17.99 for a 4-inch figure and $5.99 for a more portable keychain version. Though this first series only features four figures, it’s likely Super Impulse will pursue more releases if sales are solid. In fact, plans are already in place for a Series 2 release this spring featuring Sonic the Hedgehog, Dwight from The Office, “The Dude” from The Big Lebowski, and Good Luck Trolls.

Toy Book readers may recall that Poptaters hit the scene once before through a line of collectibles offered by the late PPW Toys beginning in 2010.
