“My goal is simple,” says Roxana Ickowicz, Founder of Inventday and Creator of Nankuru. “I want Nankuru to be a bright spot in your routine, that little spark of clarity that makes you feel good about yourself, over and over again.”
Nankuru is a “dynamic grid-based logic challenge, but the experience is far more tactile than standard puzzles.” Each puzzle has a 3-cell rule: the first two numbers determine the third using addition and subtraction. Between operation markers, number lists, and ascending and descending sequences, players must overcome these obstacles by using logic, patience, and concentration.
This may seem like another puzzle one would find on a retail shelf, but that is not the case — Nankuru is a pastime and a path to serenity.
The objective is to solve the challenge, but at its core, Nankuru invites players for moments of tranquility despite the tension that may exist in their daily routines. Whether it’s a stressful workplace, social pressure, or an at-home dilemma, everyone deserves a break. That’s how Nankuru came to be.
“Nankuru started with a quiet, personal realization: in this fast-paced world, I was constantly looking for a way to just pause,” Ickowicz shares. “My hope isn’t just for people to ‘solve’ a grid; it’s for them to find that satisfying ‘click’ of mental stillness. When you finish a puzzle, I want you to feel like you’ve untangled your thoughts and stepped away refreshed, as if you’ve just taken a deep breath.”
Even the brand’s philosophy is a call to relaxation. Nankuru originates from the Okinawan phrase “Nankurunaisa.” Its translation? Everything will work out in the end. With logic-based puzzles, Nankuru offers players a way to sharpen their mental agility while gaining the patience needed to find the right path, both in the grid and in real-life situations.
“I wanted Nankuru to be a reminder that life is a bit like our puzzles: no matter how intricate or messy it looks at the start, if you just trust the process and stay calm, everything eventually falls into place,” Ickowicz explains.
Nankuru provides that moment’s peace through challenges designed by Ickowicz’s proprietary algorithm. This system generates an infinite range of unique configurations, with its complexity structured in tiers. The primary difficulty levels each contain three sub-levels of increasing intricacy. Despite increasing complexities, the algorithm keeps players engaged, whether they seek a quick warm-up or a rigorous challenge.
“My plan is to draw upon my proprietary algorithm to consistently offer new, immersive collections, ensuring there is always a fresh, unseen puzzle waiting for you,” Ickowicz explains.
